In Valencia drinking fresh horchata is one of the secrets of the Mediterranean diet and way of life. In episode 6 of The Hairy Bikers Mediterranean Adventure ‘Nuts about tiger nuts!’ the fabulous Si and Dave discover how delicious fresh horchata (tiger nut mylk) is!

You can see super cool Anton, the Horchata Hipster from Casa de L’Orxata explain HERE  how healthy and full of goodness horchata is, and he shows just how easy it is to make it fresh using a Chufamix.

Traditional horchata is made from the very special Chufa de Valencia, which only grows in and around Valencia. These special tiger nuts have a distinctive creamy taste and they are THE ancient variety of Tiger Nut used for making authentic Horchata de Chufa, the traditional drink which has been drunk in Spain for hundreds of years.

Our lovely Chufa de Valencia are grown for us on a small farm owned by Enric, Paco and Cristina – you can see Enric here in his field. Their farm is on an ancient medieval site situated within L’Horta de Valencia, which is a very special cultural, historical and hydraulic world heritage site. Chufa de Valencia are regulated by the Chufa Council, and each bag of our lovely Chufa de Valencia carries the official stamp – you can find out more here, and here

We stock our Chufa de Valencia in cute hessian 250g bags, or in great value large 1kg bags, and for making fresh mylk we stock the amazing Chufamix and we have our own practical and slightly cheeky organic cotton nut milk bags. You can see how easy they are to use in this video here.
